Hi, Mitch here, I am a private investor, entrepreneur and advocate for long-term wealth creation.
I founded The Stoic Investors to simplify the complex challenges of investing and to hold myself accountable in my own investing and wealth creation journey. The blog is a creative outlet to share my views on Investing, my experiences, and my coverage on equities and markets.
My Mission is to empower investors in acquiring and applying various investment skills so they can create wealth.
Over the past 15 years, I have distilled various investing strategies, centralised my research, resources, and experiences, and consolidated it all into this platform.
Being a father of three Children, I hope that one day they can draw inspiration from my work long after I am gone.
There are many βMarket Beating Theoriesβ that look good on paper but rarely work for those who use them. I donβt strive for intellectually stimulating ideas or mathematical brilliance.
To me, it seems pointless to learn how to invest if we cannot apply it and make money.
How may my work benefit you?
The primary goal of the blog is to offer insightful and thought-provoking ideas to investors, regardless of their experience, and to provide an independent perspective on the investment landscape and markets as a whole.
You can expect educational articles, practical suggestions, a list of stocks to keep an eye on, market commentary, equity coverage, and business insights. All of this is aimed at assisting investors in making better decisions and obtaining a fair share of market returns.
I write about…
- Ongoing and independent commentary on a range of companies and topics.
- Developing the right investing behaviour and mindset to succeed.
- Interpreting investing jargon around financials, valuation, and business.
- Discussing Investing strategies and a philosophy for long-term investing.
- Equity coverage on companies including my own analysis and Investment Thesis.
- Understanding business and the makings of a successful enterprise.
- Musings about Investing, life and Wealth creation.
- Deep Dives on trends, emerging markets, and thematic themes.
- My scuttlebutt adventures as I travel around looking for opportunity.
π I write and Invest in companies across various global stock exchanges with a go-anywhere approach aimed at identifying the most attractive investment opportunities.
Discovering truth by building on previous discoveries.
Bernard of Chartres
All the ideas throughout this blog have been layered upon by what I have learned from studying others, it is to them I owe my gratitude.
I’ve learnt a tremendous amount from the experiences and mistakes of others, not just my own. Sharing what not to do is as important as sharing what to do. By being lifelong learners, we avoid relying on what got us to one stage of life. Investing is part of the art that requires continuous learning.
Sometimes we struggle to implement and understand new ideas However, with deeper research, we can find someone else’s perspective that makes the concept immediately clear.
Through my writing, I hope to provide that “aha” moment for you.
Why write about investing and business?
As an entrepreneur and business owner, I have found that studying how companies scale, grow, differentiate, and create value has helped me immensely to become a better investor.
Investment is most intelligent when it is most business like.
Ben Graham
When you invest, you are not simply buying stocks but rather investing in an operating business.
Learning about the engines of successful businesses, market cycles, competition, trends, and themes of the future will help shape your investment ideas and process.
As investors, we are essentially capital allocators, seeking out the best opportunities to place our capital for the greatest return in the future.
By thinking along the lines of Ben Graham and conducting ourselves “most business-like,” I believe that we can gain an edge over many other investors out there.
Join me as I scuttlebut my way around the world. All the best on your investing journey!
Mitch
